- Oil – 2 table spoon
Briyani Masala:
- Coriander Seeds – 1 table spoon
- Cumin Seeds - 1 table spoon
- Fennel Seeds - 1 table spoon
- Cinnamon Sticks – 1 or 2 medium sticks
- Cardamom – 2-4 no’s
- Clove – 2-3 no’s
- Star Anise – 2 no’s
Tomato & Onion Mixture:
- Onion (chopped) – 2 medium Size
- Tomato (chopped) - 2 medium Size
- Green Chilies (chopped) – 2-3 no’s
- Ginger & Garlic Paste – 1 table spoon
- Oil – 1 table spoon
Coconut Milk:
- Coconut Milk - 1 cup
Garnish:
- Chopped fresh Coriander Leaves
- 2-3 Lemon Slices
Optional Ingredients:
- Peeled Potatoes: 2-3 no’s
- Boiled Eggs: 2.-3 no’s
- Chopped Cashew nuts: ¼ cup
- Raisins: ¼ cup
Spices Level:
- Normal Spicy: add ¼ tea spoon red chili powder
- Medium Spicy: add ½ tea spoon red chili powder
- Spicier: add 1 tea spoon red chili powder
Notes:
- Based on your taste adjust ingredient quantities
- For best result use good quality basmati rice
- Use Vegetables or tofu for vegetarian or vegan people instead of chicken meet
Procedure:
Prepare the Marinade:
Take chicken in a bowl then add ginger & garlic paste, Coriander Powder, Cumin Powder, Turmeric Powder, Yogurt and salt. Then Mix well and refrigerate for half hour.
Cook the Rice:
- Take pan and add oil over medium heat.
- After heated oil, add chopped onions, tomatoes, and chilies.
- Then sauté until the raw smell is removed.
- After, add basmati rice and cook until it turns brown.
- After turning brown, add coconut milk, lemon juice, and salt. Then mix well.
Layer the Biryani:
- Take a pot, and then do First layer with cooked rice, then second layer with marinated chicken, third layer with spices.
- Do the same layer as mentioned above until all the ingredients are used up.
- After close the pot and cook it in a low heat for 20-25 minutes.
Garnish:
- Garnish with chopped fresh coriander leaves and lemon slices with hot condition
